##neopetsWeekly Threads.Tuesday:.Wednesday:.Thursday:.Friday:Filter PostsComment FormattingSloth wins.(/spoiler) (/clap). Im not sure how active you guys are in the rest of the pet sites, but I figure this is useful information in case neopets ever truly dies or if anyone wants to try something new.Iv played a LOT of pet sites for various amounts of time.
I've been super envious of everyone's cool profiles but unfortunately my knowledge of code extends. Thanks for the Free Layout, Omnoms ♥.
I think its an addiction at this point but whatever;D Also this is going to be a huge text dump so caution. So to start:Neopets is by far the biggest and most diverse in terms of what it offers. Most of the others do only a few things or have too few users for it to really be fun.I put links to random pets just so you can see the art:)- -I will start with Subeta because I believe Subeta is the most similar. Subeta has frequent new content and a fairly active userbase though they havn't 'grown' much in a long time. Subeta is the only other pet site with what I would call a functional economy where you can make money off restocking and otherwise (though not as well and not as nuanced I guess). HOWEVER, Subeta is 100x easier than neopets to make money. Just doing daily quests and selling the results nets you huge amounts of money and even though inflation is high, it never feels like goals are TOO far out of reach. It has a human avatar that you can dress up with clothing but you cannot dress up your pets, instead it has static images with a a lot of 'character.'
The pets aren't as cute and childish looking as neopets. Subeta's userbase is mostly full of older members. If you really needed to jump ship I think Subeta would fit many of you. However, I honestly don't know why, but im never as attached to anything on my subeta account as I am on neo. And maybe its because profit is so much easier, but I don't ever really have many goals. There are far far far more unique items on subeta and I think that contributes a bit. Every day there are like 5+ more items released?
Plus frequent holiday shops which always have TONS of new content every few months or so. There ARE big 'collections' to complete that I really like. For example, stickers and plushies all have their own unique collection similar to the stamp albums where you put them in and can never take them out. Thats mostly what I do on subeta. Work away on the thousands of stickers I still need. The biggest problem with subeta imo is it needs about 5 thousand more users to make it feel more alive and needs to maybe cool it with the profit from those quests.Next is my personal favorite, Chicken Smoothie.-ChickenSmoothie is very different from any other site iv ever tried.
There is not really any sort of currency (beyond the cash shop currency that isn't necessary) and there aren't any items besides those you use to dress up your pets. The pets themselves are entirely the focus, currency, and pretty much everything. Every single month you can adopt ALL the pets.
Its usually like 60 pets. But you adopt them as 'newborns' and over the course of the month, they slowly grow into DIFFERENT outcomes. So you adopt 7 puppies and 3 of them might end up German Shepards, 2 Corgis, and 1 Dalmation. And maybe there was a super rare Husky outcome that you.
Happened to not get. So you have to trade for that Husky via trading your extra other pets from that month.
And once that month has passed, those animals will never be up for adoption ever again and can only be gotten from people who adopted them before. So every month its like a rat race trying to trade for everything from THAT month, while trying to also trade for pets from as far back as 2008 that you werent around to adopt. This one is a lot of fun because bartering with cats and hamsters is honestly a blast. 'oh you need the 2009 shima longtail? I got you with my advent butterbun and ill throw in a 2010 zodiac'. Reminds me of UC trading with the hierarchy, but much less rigid and way more fun. There are thousands of different pets all with unique art and with artists that play along with you on the boards. It has a fairly young userbase in my opinion and a HUGE RP section if anyone remembers the silly 'lupe rp' boards of the past.
IMO a lot of the 12 year olds who would be on neopets are on chickensmoothie. But there are plenty of adults too so its not too bad.As far as goals, they are endless. There are a LOT of really rare pets.
Any one of them is not out of reach. I personally enjoy hoarding certain pets (as in I like to get like 20+ of the same pet, trading for them 1 at a time with my trade fodder) and being really completionist about cats. I want every cat ever. So like, is my hoard for this month, its some sort of furry dragon (I think, I don't know since they aren't grown yet!) hatching from colorful eggs and I love them so much I traded for 100 of the eggs once I realized they would be furry.Shameless plug, right now is September which is 'staff pet' month, where every member of the staff creates a dog outcome with heavy line edits so it barely looks like a dog anymore and is really unique and special.
So if you are gonna join, join now and get these because they trade well later! Its pretty easy to go to the freebie boards when you start and get a ton of stuff from recent months to get you started. ALWAYS ADOPT MAX OF EVERYTHING.Note that chickensmoothie has a shitton of copycat sites right now with various themes. Eldemore for example.- -Aywas. Its really different. Its technically 'free to play' but its really heavily involved in its cash shop.
There are a LOT of pets and this site definitely has the highest quality art. The normal pets though. Are barely the point. Everyone on this site is obsessed with custom pets.
You can pay either with $$$ or in game currency to have other people draw you custom pets and then breed them for even more unique ones and pay for all this crazy custom art. Its honestly more like commissioning custom art combined with a pet site. Very adorable and quality art.If you can draw well or color PSDs of colorful animals I guarentee you will like this one because its really really easy to make currency just selling pets and the art really is gorgeous. Its on a huge scale though. A breeding between 2 line-edited pets costs the equivalent of 75 USD$ if you can't do it yourself. You can do that with in-game currency but god it a fucking grind to make money on this site if you can't draw. Endless clicking in the 'adventure dome'.
I personally play this because its got a decent overlap with ChickenSmoothie users and neither site forbids offsite trading. I grind on Aywas and use that currency to get older CS pets: P I used to play legit but I gave up when I realized I will never be an artist and I dont have the patience of a PCr to wait for good trades. ANYWAY its got an active userbase and if amazing art and character building is your thing, check it out. It does have a restock system but iv never been able to reliably profit from it because of how it works. I think some of you would totally love the site. Dont let me scare you away because im certain a lot of you PC/BC folks will love it A LOT. The grind is real but so was habi grindingFlightRising is the newest 'big' petsite I have come across.
Its still got some kinks to work out imo but its nice. Its all about dragons, and breeding dragons, and selling dragons:p Its got this huge color pallete and all these genes you can work into many different breeds of dragons so that EVERY DRAGON is just about unique due to the sheer amount of combinations that result from breeding. Its a bit hard to explain how it works.Only issues is since its so new, there is honestly a lack of things to 'do' every day I feel. Once you have a bunch of gorgeous dragons you don't have too many big goals to work for besides collecting minions (again similar to stamp album) and grinding for money in their battledome thing.Collecting the minions is great but my issue is some things have already inflated to be millions upon millions, yet making money is really hard. It takes a lot of grind for 100k. And getting genes for your dragons is really expensive as well. Really the best way to make money is to 'exalt' (release into the wild) your baby dragons:/ You get like 3-10k depending on how much you age/train them every time you release a baby.
But hatching a nest of babies takes days due to cooldown timer and isn't something you can spend time DOING. You can also grind in the colissuem for food to sell on the market. If your dragons are starving they cant breed so there is an incentive to always be buying and selling enough food to feed peoples 100+ dragon lairs every day (thank god for the 'feed all' button).Another great aspect of this site is the group PVP. When you join, you select an alignment.
I picked nature. Every week or so, whatever alignment exalts the most babies wins certain perks. Your alignment is your family and have their own forums where people always help each other.
The system is REALLY unique and if you are competitive, there are certain 'Flights' that you would love to join because its non-stop competition to breed, buy, and train the most dragons to exalt. Userbase is definitely adults. Its the newest one and is still being updated regularly so I suspect there will be more content later. Dont let it scare you away either, plenty of folks love it already, and it has potential.DragCave is really chill.
I stop in once a week just to adopt some eggs, toss them into a click site, and move on. You get eggs and they need approximately 1000 views from people in order to hatch within 5 days or they die. Thankfully there are fansites that everyone uses to mass post their eggs and simply opening the page to post YOUR eggs gives everyone views.
In fact ill link that too because its important:Anyhow the appeal of it is 'gotta catch em all' because you can get just a few dragons every week and there are a lot. People's other thing is making interesting lineages.and are lineages. This is really impressive because it takes MONTHS and TONS OF PLANNING to do something like this. You first have to have enough dragons, then breed them which is a crapshoot, and idk how to explain why its a pain in the ass.
But people on here mostly trade lineages and try to collect babies with interesting ones. You start with 'caveborns' from the front page which have NO lineage.WajasWajas is old and dying, but it was similar to flight rising in that you had animals and bred them based on gene combinations and colors so had nearly infinite possibilities.HowrseBasically a horse breeding/caring/racing/collecting site. It used to be good but has always been really pay to win and recently a few powerusers basically have the admins in their pockets and its gone a bit worse. If you are super into horses though, go for it.Khimeros, Serafel, Lioden, AnimalJam, Magistream, Felisfire, and GoatlingsThese are all that I do not personally play and have never played, but have heard as being decent and have their own followings. Feel free to google them.Edit: A Lioden staff member is down below in the comments, and it seems to be a good one that you might want to watch!
I'm signing up at least. Always good to be an early adopter of pet sites.RIP Valenth, my other favorite, which closed down due to never being able to turn a profit:CRIP Teripets, the best neo clone there was.FINAL NOTE:With all these pet sites, no matter how young the player base, NONE has the restrictive shitty filters of neopets. Most of these allow words like 'damn' and just censor stuff like 'f.' if you try to curse and have no problem with you doing NORMAL THINGS like exchanging skypes or linking to reddit or trading pets to people on other sites. All of these have updated coding and aren't stuck in 2005 like neopets is. I tried to put only popular ones with large followings that are being actively updated at least once a week, usually more. The ones with images and links are ones I personally have put a lot of time into. I right now play neopets and chickensmoothie heavily and the others sporatically.
If you want to play any of these let me know and I can try to help.Neopets is still the most addictive though. Not sure why. Maybe its nostalgia, maybe its because its so difficult, idk. My biggest thing is not a mechanic per se.
For me, its most important that the economy is stable and healthy. If you offer something for free, humans will abuse the shit out of it until it's totally worthless. Limit everything. If you offer a way to get money/items/pets via something long and grindy, there will be enough people who sit and grind for 15 hours until the economy REQUIRES the long grind to get anything good. There needs to be a way for new players to compete with old ones.
Pay to win can assist with this by giving new players a way to choose to catch up, but dont go overboard. Like neopets premium/jetsam ace/fortune cookies, its mild pay to win that has limits.Chicken smoothie handles everything well imo. Their pound contains the pets of everyone whose account ever got frozen so always has tons of rares for newbies to catch. Its only open once a day for a few minutes and onpy releases like 100 pets at a time.
Easy equilizer for newbies. They have a few store pets you can pay real money for as well. Very cheap tho. Every christmas day, the re-release smakl amounts of all the old high demand pets to take care of runaway inflation, but otherwise the economy is perfectly stable and makes sense. NOTHING is useless. If something doesn't have 'much value' you can just stash it away and 6 months later it will be worth something. The store pets on CS are a really good example on how not to devalue the work of players who don't pay real money.
You can buy store pets. Most users try to collect ALL pets, so they all want store pets. I can buy 20 and trade them for all manner of rares and good stuff. BUT that doesnt devalue those rares.
It doesn't hurt the other players by driving the price of anything up and making people bitter about pay to win.If you want a real mechanic, I love collecting things obsessively. The ability to stash items/pets away in a place I can see them all is nice. Lol I thought of a good way to put itwhat is your favorite part of neopets?Beauty Contest/Art Gallery/Character Improvement - You should try AywasStamps/gallery stocking/restocking - SubetaPound Chat/pet trading/UCs/hoarding pets - ChickensmoothieSocial Aspect/battledome to some extent - FlightRisingerrr DragCave fits in there somewhere. I think its for OCD people: P Those lineages are a lot of work. And completionism!Really though I think most of you would like at least one of them. Issue is none of them have everything. I think thats why neo keeps sucking me back in.
It might not be the master of anything but it has a bunch of content for everyone. This is the CS version of /ZaI do think its way easier to break into this tier of trading. These are all pet from 2008 or so and various other restricted pets, but just enough are re-released at christmas that its nowhere near the impossible feat of neopets to break into UC tiers. Of course, it will take a bit of effort to get to 'the list' just starting out.
Also unlike neopets, there are thousands of pets below this 'list'. The heirarchy below that is dependant on date, rarity, and appearance.
So a fairly bland 2012 Dog is worth more than a 2013 Rat, but not more than a 2013 Dog that is gorgeous and has high demand. Its hard the first 2 months to do much. All your pets are still growing and you won't have much fodder. But if you give a bit and start building up fodder over a few months its not too bad. If you tell me your name ill send you some stuff. I'm part of Lioden staff and I've got to say, it's one of the best games out there.
I'm an active member of Neo (15 years), Subeta (8 years), and Lioden (2 years), and even though Lioden is by far the 'newer' of the three, it's got a huge dedicated community and tons of activity. There's only one artist on the site, but he is AMAZING and all of his art is just gorgeous. He does all the colouring, all the lining, all the decor, all the lion poses, tons of markings, etc. The 'cash shop currency' equivalent (Golden Beetles) is super super super easy to get with the normal site currency (Silver Beetles) so you don't feel like you're at a disadvantage, and the community is SO nice and will help you start off on a great track. You have to be at least 16 to sign up, but it's great because everyone is mature and the only thing you have to watch out for is the Main Chat room. They can get a little feisty and weird, but you get used to it fast.
NoteWhen configuring Profile Container registry settings are added here: Registry Key: HKLMSOFTWAREFSLogixProfilesWhen configuring Profile Container the entire contents of the registry will be redirected to the FSLogix Profile Container. This setting has the same effect as setting SIDDirNamePattern = '%username%%sid%' and SIDDirNameMatch = '%username%%sid%'. Darkness rises best class archer. IsDynamicTypeDWORDDefault Value1Data values and useIf set to '1' the VHD(X) that is created will be dynamicIf set to '0' the created VHD(X) will be fixed size. This setting is used in conjunction with the SizeInMBs setting to manage the size of Profile and Office Containers.Setting IsDynamic to 1 causes the profile container to use the minimum space on disk, regardless of the allocated SizeInMBs. As a users profile contains more data, the amount of data on disk will grow up to the size specified in SizeInMBs.SizeInMBs is the maximum size that a user will be allowed to use on disk, if the user's profile grows beyond what is specified in SizeInMBs the user will experience errors.
Setting IsDynmaic to 1 does NOT allow the user profile to grow larger than what is specified in SizeInMBs. KeepLocalDirTypeDWORDDefault Value0Data values and use1: The 'local%username%' folder will be left on the system, after sign-out.

NoProfileContainingFolderTypeDWORDDefault Value0Data values and use1: Profile Container won't use or create a SID containing folder for the VHD(X) file. This setting is intended for situations where storage provides a location that is already unique per-user. Default settings for matching VHD names won't work correctly if this setting is enabled, and VHDs for multiple users are stored in the same location.
OutlookCachedModeTypeDWORDDefault Value0Data values and use0: Prevents FSLogix from doing anything with cached mode.1: Only when the Profile Container is attached, the Outlook setting that enables cached mode will temporarily be set until the container is detached. This setting insures cached mode is used only when the container is attached.NOTE: Outlook must be configured for online mode for this feature to work. This insures if FSLogix gets disabled, that large OST files won't be downloaded. HKEYLOCALMACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftoffice16.0OutlookOSTNoOST:DWORD = 2 PreventLoginWithFailureTypeDWORDDefault Value0Data values and useIf set to 1 Profile Container will load FRXShell if there's a failure attaching to, or using an existing profile VHD(X). Supported variables are%username%,%userdomain%,%sid%,%osmajor%,%osminor%,%osbuild%,%osservicepack%,%profileversion%,%clientname%, and any environment variable available at time of use. RemoveOrphanedOSTFilesOnLogoffTypeDWORDDefault Value1Data values and useA value of '0' or lack of this setting results in no action.A value of '1' will cause duplicate OST files to be removed.NOTE: Review the following, in full, before setting. In rare cases, duplicate OST files are created for a user. This circumstance has been documented to occur with and without the use of a non-persistent profile. When the profile is stored in the standard file system, administrators may remove orphaned or stale OST files by deleting them. When using Profile Container the OST file in a VHD, isn't as visible. Over long periods of time duplicate OST files may consume incremental disk space.
Setting this option to 1 will cause Profile Container and Profile Container for Office to remove all OST files in a VHD(X), except the OST with the latest modify date. Administrators should be familiar with the use of OST files, and potential implications, before choosing to enable this setting. RoamSearchTypeDWORDDefault Value0Data values and useUsed to control the Profile Container Search Roaming feature. Set to '1' or '2' to enable the feature.
See for details.NOTE: RoamSearch is set prior to GPOs being applied, it is not possible to rely on GPOs to set RoamSearch in environments where a GoldImage is applied at boot. NOTE: Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session support. RoamSearch should not be enabled in these environments. SetTempToLocalPathTypeDWORDDefault Value3Data values and useA value of '0' means, 'Take no action'. A value of '1' means, 'Redirect TEMP and TMP to the local drive'. Unless there's a well-understood use case that requires these settings to be different, verify VHDNameMatch and VHDNamePattern are the same when changing either setting. NOTE-2: Beginning in 2.9.4 VHDNameMatch appends either.vhd or.vhdx to the Name Match string. Before 2.9.4 this search used a '.' rather than specifying the file type.
The VolumeType setting will determine which file type is appended.
