Taking Care of Your Monsters
- Taking care of your monster requires four basic actions: feeding, petting, cleaning, and playing.
- When your monster is in need of care an exclamation point will show up over their habitat. To enter the habitat simply tap on it.
- Once inside the habitat you’ll see the four needs icon located at the top of the screen, under the progress bar. When a need icon is white, it needs to be satisfied. Once satisfied the icon will turn grey.
- Feeding – depending on the type of habitat your monster is in (water, grass, or dirt) they will only eat certain types of foods. You can easily see this when purchasing food (which can be done via the menu at the bottom of the screen) as the icon for each habitat will be beside each type of food. Once you place the food in the habitat you simply need to drag it from the right side towards the monster. If the monster won’t eat they are either asleep (poke them to wake them), full (the food icon will be greyed out), or still eating.
- Petting – each type of monster likes to be pet in a different way, in a different place, though in practice most enjoy it when you rub their belly. In order to find out where a particular monster likes to be pet, simply rub your finger all over it. Once you see hearts you know you’ve hit the spot.
- Cleaning – a few times a day your pet’s habitat will need to be cleaned. When it’s dirty there will be a layer of dirt or slime on the screen. You can purchase a cleaning tool from the menu at the bottom of the screen. Cheaper cleaning items will break faster. To clean, simply select the cleaning tool and rub all over the screen until the mess is completely gone and the cleaning icon has turned grey.
- Playing – each monster type has a preference for the toys they like to play with it, but the game doesn’t actually tell you. So instead you’ll need to try a bit of trial and error, purchasing different toys in order to see what they like to play with. For example, pogonips like to play with saxophones, while anollys enjoy the warmth of a heat lamp. Sometimes customers will give you clues as to what types of toys monsters prefer.
- As you continue to satisfy your monster’s needs and keep them happy, they’ll start to mature. Once they reach a four star level of maturity a fifth icon will appear at the top of the screen. This egg means it’s time to breed. When you decide to breed you’ll have to pay a small fee and you’ll have several options for how the monster will turn out.
- Fully mature monsters are also the only ones that can be sold to customers.
- Once your monster has successfully bred, an egg will be transferred to the incubator room, which you can access from the main pet shop screen. It’s the second option from the top (the one that, naturally, looks like an egg).
- Incubating eggs – each egg takes a certain amount of time to incubate (usually several hours) after which point they will hatch. Make sure that you have an empty habitat to house a hatched monster otherwise they will run away. In order to get them back you’ll need to pay a fee.
- If you don’t choose to incubate an egg it won’t hatch. However, you can only keep each of each type of egg (water, dirt, grass) at a time.
- You can also purchase eggs from the shop though the majority of these cost premium in-game currency that needs to be purchased with real world money.
Managing Your Shop
- In order to make money you’ll need to sell fully mature monsters. Customers will come into your shop looking for a specific type of monster, and they won’t settle for anything less. Sometimes it’s as simple as a certain breed of monsters, other times it’s more specific such as a specific color of a specific breed.
- Once you have the correct monster in stock you can call a customer in to make the sale. They will offer you a certain sum (if they’re satisfied with the monster) and you can either accept or decline. Remember, only four-star monsters can be sold. If your monster isn’t fully mature the customer will ask to come back later.
- Don’t worry about not being able to see your monsters once they’re sold: you have the option to visit any monster that’s been sold to a customer afterwards.
- You can purchase different themes for your store via the shop at the bottom of the screen. These themes don’t appear to have any affect on the actual game other than providing a visual change.
- You can also purchase habitats in any of the three types (water, dirt, grass). When you enter into the habitat shop you’ll a number of the left side of the screen that represents how many habitats you can have on display at a time. This number increases as you progress.
